Check out our new and improved bios and headshots, including an important inclusion of Kat’s M.P.S.E. accreditation and a major update on our “intern” Sorren, who has grown considerably since the last headshot we had up. I also put together a mobile friends landing page, so check out our site on your phone, too. Or if you are on your phone, our credit roll is gone (the code never worked on mobile so it just cluttered up the home page considerably) and you can see it (also updated recently) on our desktop site.

“Kathleen [Edwards, M.P.S.E.] is a brilliant sound designer[,] one [of] if not the best ive ever worked with in Hollywood[.] working with her and Tor made this mix on last days a perfect  design for the feeling of brooklyn I had in mind[.]  Hear Kitty, this studio is  located in new Mexico far away from bklyn and they nailed it[.]”
~ Ralph Bakshi, legendary animator and director, Last Days of Coney Island

Louis Armstrong once said “if it sounds good, it is good.” Hear Kitty Studios is dedicated to that philosophy and to making the world sound better. Our specialty is one-stop-shopping for audio post production: bring us edited picture with rough dialog and temp music, and we’ll give you a cohesive, lush soundscape. Of course, all of our services are also available à la carte:

  • ADR specialists (VO, too!)
  • remote workflows:
    Source Connect/phone patch/Skype/&c.
  • supervising or supervised sound editorial
  • final re-recording mix mono to 5.1
ready to upgrade to 7.1 or Dolby Atmos
  • sound design & custom sound effects
  • full service Foley
  • print mastering & deliverables
  • music production & composition
  • audio “sweetening”
  • radio and podcast production services

Not in New Mexico for post? No problem: we have established tried and true internet workflows enabling us to collaborate with producers all over the world. No matter how large or small your project, we can make it sound good, and you know what Louis says about that.

new mailing list groups
October 4th, 2018 by

We have been keeping a mailing list for Holiday Cards and that’s all we’ve used it for—until yesterday. In the interest of sending you stuff you’re interested in without giving you stuff you don’t want, please feel free to use the following form to either sign up anew or to select the types of emails you’ll get. From this day forward, notices about backup purges and other producer-specific stuff will not be sent to the whole holiday card list, but only to the “producer info” list. We will include a reminder about these groups on our next holiday card. 😀

data purge
October 3rd, 2018 by

We need to purge some of our archival disk space. If you did a project with us which ended before January 1st, 2017 and you want to make sure you have an archive of the raw, unmixed audio, please contact us before Monday, October 15, 2018 to make arrangements with us. We’ll do The Purge that day.

spec sheets

Not sure if we’ve posted this on here, before, but we should. We have two spec sheets that we email often:

gear for sale
January 14th, 2017 by

This gear is being sold by a friend-of-a-friend (well, friend of many friends, more accurately). We don’t need any of it right now, but perhaps you do: http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/pho/5901147102.html

you could be here
July 22nd, 2016 by

This could be your view at your next mix, except with Tor & Kat in the seats instead of having them empty. And with your movie up on the screen instead of 2 Years 8 Days.

IMG_1627Yeah, that’s right, we now have a dedicated computer for each of our re-recording mixers. We had the idea one day when we were moving the ADR stage from I-25 Studios to Albuquerque Studios for a session out there. The whole ADR rig became portable at the beginning of the most recent season of The Night Shift and we’ve gotten to the point where we can wrap an actor at one location and two hours later be recording an actor across town at the other location. If we could do that, sure we could move the ADR rig on to the mix stage for a two-mixer setup. Right? To quote Apocalypse Now, “absolutely god damned right” we can. The first time it took about 2 hours, and that included a lot of troubleshooting, so we’ll probably have that time down to about an hour pretty soon.

Boo-yah!
